I always go crazy at the start of a new year. You'd think teachers would want to start out slow, but no, it's always "Let's pile on the assignments and freak them out immediately!" Uuuugh. Yuckyuckyuck.

Anyone like extra work? You can have all of mine.

Finals next week. I suppose I'm as aready as I'm going to be. I've got to put a few finishing touches on my art final, then I'm done. Everything else is tests, of course.

And I've got to get everything packed by next Saturday! My plane leaves at ten A.M. Then I get to hang around the house for a while, before going to Spain for three weeks, and coming back just in time to pack up, hop in the car, and drive back here with my folks. So much fun. Well, it will be nice to see all of my cousins again.

There's so much to do before the school year ends! We're going to have to pull a few late sessions at the yearbook to get it done on time, and that's still excluding some supplements that get mailed out. This week's all we've got. I probably shouldn't be writing this right now, but there are only so many pictures of guys stuffing things up their noses you can look at before you freak out. Someone here must have a fetish, I swear.

I've got two more layouts to go, then my part's done. It's just helping everyone else finish up theirs.

Nothng like working all night when everyone else is having fun. Oh well, I got some really great shots for the yearbook. I had to weed some out already, since they were, uh, a little inappropriate, but the people making up the pages will sort through the rest of them.

I'll be doing some of that, too, though hopefully they don't make me write anything. I'm not very good at that sort of thing. I do like working on the layouts, though, and picking out the photos. I haven't been assigned any pages yet, though. I'll get whatever's leftover soon enough.

I was so bored this afternoon I actually did my homework. Now what am I going to avoid doing all weekend? It's too bad the day of the dance was wrong, that was something to look forward to. I'm looking forward to trying out that camera. I'll have to play with the flash a bit, though. I wonder if I could take it the night before to get a trial run with it first? I wouldn't want everything turning up washed out because I didn't have time to figure out the flash.

Got a letter from my parents. I don't really know what to write back. "Yeah, school's fine, everything's cool, sucks you felt you had to send me away." Summer's going to be awkward as hell, at least till we go to Spain. Even if it comes up during the family visits, it'll be okay; Europe's mostly a lot more open still than the U.S.

Maybe I'll move to Spain after I graduate. I could stay with some of my cousins till I can afford my own place; I know they'd like to have me. Maybe Uncle Nicolas would even hire me to work the restaurant at first. I could talk to him about it this summer.

I like this plan.

Hey. Uh. I don't know who to ask this, who's in charge of the dance stuff, but... Do I need to pay if I'm going for yearbook, to take pictures? I'll have the camera checked out and everything.

Apparently there's a dance coming up. That sounds like ten sorts of awkward just waiting to happen. I don't really know anyone yet, anyway, and going stag without someone to even talk to isn't exactly fun.

Is the faculty doing anything about the jerk who's posting shit everywhere?

In other news, I really like the art class here. There's always some people who use it as an excuse to get credit for coloring, but the serious people are pretty cool, and the teacher knows how to work with them. I spoke with the yearbook adviser today, and they're going to let me join in despite how late in the year it is. Apparently they're short on photographers, anyway, and want me to get some of the later events in the year. And there's a real camera I can check out and use for projects and yearbook stuff. So I'll be the weird guy in the stands snapping pictures of everything, but that's okay.

Oh hell. I may have to go to the dance. I bet everyone else who'd cover photography has a date.
